Honnouji Academy is a prestigious school that is under the strict and authoritarian control of the student council, led by the formidable Satsuki Kiryuuin. The school environment is characterized by a hierarchy where the power of the student council members is reinforced through their unique and highly advanced uniforms called Goku Uniforms. These uniforms not only serve as clothing but also enhance the physical abilities of their wearers, symbolizing authority and superiority within the academy.

The story takes a dramatic turn with the arrival of a transfer student named Ryuuko Matoi. She arrives unexpectedly, carrying a giant pair of scissors that is actually half of a larger weapon. Ryuuko’s primary motivation for coming to Honnouji is personal: she is searching for the individual responsible for her father’s death. She is convinced that the answer to her father’s murderer lies within the school, which is why she is willing to face extreme challenges to find the truth.

Ryuuko’s confrontation with the student council initially revolves around her desire to uncover the identity of her father’s killer. She believes Satsuki Kiryuuin possesses this knowledge. However, her first attempt to confront her is met with overwhelming force. The student council, wielding their powerful Goku Uniforms, easily overpowers Ryuuko, demonstrating the vast gap in strength and resources between her and the ruling students.

Despite this setback, Ryuuko’s determination does not waver. The turning point in her journey comes when she gains her own special outfit called a Kamui, named Senketsu. Unlike the standard Goku Uniforms, Senketsu is a living garment that grants Ryuuko extraordinary power, transforming her and raising her fighting capability to a new level.
