With the defeat of Majin Boo, roughly six months prior, peace has returned to Earth. The world has settled into a calm and stable period, allowing its residents to pursue quieter, everyday lives. Among them is Son Goku, who has taken up a new, unconventional profession as a radish farmer. Despite his peaceful lifestyle, Goku remains the same adventurous and strong warrior at heart. His friends, too, are living more subdued lives, enjoying the tranquility of the post-battle era.

However, this peaceful period is short-lived as a new and formidable threat emerges from across the cosmos. This threat is none other than Beerus, the God of Destruction, a cosmic entity wielding immense power that rivals or surpasses that of any mortal warrior. Known throughout the universe as the most terrifying being ever encountered, Beerus’s presence immediately unsettles the balance of power within the universe. His arrival sparks widespread concern among the universe's inhabitants and ignites a series of events that threaten to destabilize life as they know it.

Beerus's interest is piqued by a legendary warrior foretold in ancient prophecies, the Super Saiyan God. This legendary figure is believed to possess extraordinary strength, capable of matching the destructive power of a God of Destruction. The prophecy predicts that such a warrior will emerge and challenge the existing cosmic order. Beerus’s desire to find and confront the Super Saiyan God motivates much of the series’s plot, setting the stage for intense battles and moral dilemmas. His desire to fight this legendary warrior fuels many of the story’s conflicts and character developments.

The series of Dragon Ball Super in its early episodes revisits themes from previous films, particularly the two Dragon Ball Z movies, Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F'. These films introduced key elements that are pivotal to the series’ narrative, especially the concept of gods and the divine hierarchy in the Dragon Ball universe. These storylines set the foundation for the series by exploring the origins of powerful new characters, such as Beerus and Golden Frieza, and their impact on Goku and his friends. Fans appreciate how the series retells these iconic stories with added depth and expansion, bridging the past movies with the ongoing series.

As Dragon Ball Super progresses beyond these initial storylines, it ventures into entirely new territory by exploring the concept of alternate universes. This multiverse approach introduces multiple dimensions, each with its own version of familiar characters and new fighters, enemies, and allies. This expansion allows for a richer, more complex universe where the stakes are higher, and the potential for combining different storylines increases exponentially. The series thus evolves from being a continuation of Dragon Ball Z to becoming an exploration of infinite possibilities within the vast Dragon Ball multiverse, captivating fans and offering fresh narratives with each new arc.
