Many exorcists are members of organizations dedicated to maintaining the barrier between Assiah and Gehenna and ensuring demons do not cause widespread destruction. Their work is dangerous, often forcing them into life-threatening battles against powerful demonic entities.

The story of Blue Exorcist follows Rin Okumura, a young boy with a mysterious and tumultuous background. Rin is unique because he bears the curse of being the illegitimate son of Satan, a powerful demon lord. Despite this lineage, Rin was raised by a kind-hearted monk who sacrificed himself to save him from demonic possession. Rin's past is filled with pain and confusion, yet it shapes his determination to forge his own destiny.

As Rin learns more about his heritage, he becomes increasingly motivated to confront his demonic origins. His ultimate goal is to defeat Satan, his biological father, and prove that he can choose his own path rather than be controlled by his bloodline. Driven by these ambitions, Rin decides to become an exorcist, viewing it as the best way to harness his abilities and fight against the demonic forces that threaten the world.

To develop his skills, Rin enrolls at True Cross Academy, a prestigious institution for training exorcists. Here, he trains alongside other candidates, learning the art of exorcism, acquiring combat skills, and studying spiritual techniques. The academy provides him with the resources and mentorship needed to harness his innate powers and grow as a fighter. Through hard work and perseverance, Rin hopes to not only master his abilities but also to find his place in the ongoing battle between humans and demons.
